Abstract
The purpose of this study was to improve the oral health attitudes of university students by comparing the health behavior, oral health behavior, and oral health impact index of university students with the type of residence, and analyzing the quality of life and related factors related to oral health of university students. This study analyzed the questionnaire through self-written method targeting 592 students (380 dormitories, 212 commuting from home) at G and H universities. As a result of the study, the scores of OHIP-14 were high among students living in dormitories, indicating that the quality of life related to oral health was low. As a result of comparing the OHIP-14 scores of health behavior, there was a statistically significant difference in depression and alcohol consumption for students living in dormitory and depression for self-resident students. As a result of comparing the OHIP-14 scores of oral health behaviors, there was a statistically significant difference in perceived oral health among self-resident students. Related factors of OHIP-14 were in the order of depression, perceived oral health, type of residence, alcohol consumption, and total number of brushings. Through this study, we would like to propose a customized oral health education program so that effective dental plaque management can be performed to improve the oral health of students residing in university dormitories.
